Here’s the next leak from the new Black EL x Durkin project, The Collage (coming Winter of 2012).
“Che’s Parlay” is the world’s first introduction to Black EL’s alter-ego, EL EL Cool Che. Occasionally one of my beats brings him out of hiding, and we have no choice but to let Che into the booth to talk some shit.
We decided to do a Black EL x Durkin remix of Aer’s track “Feel I Bring” since we’re doing a show with them on Thursday, December 22nd at the Middle East in Cambridge (more details on the show).
Their track was all summer vibes. We winterized it.
Come out to ZuZu this Friday for a special Halloween Edition of SOLID! Evaredy and I will be playing a spooky mix of disco, hip-hop, rock and soul… We’ll also have dope costumes on. See you there.
Black EL x Durkin is opening for Camp Lo at Fresh Produce, Boston’s best hip-hop night. I’m DJing all night too with DJs Knife, Tommee and Evaredy. Be there!

I’m also DJing and performing with Black EL at the legendary hip-hop party, Fresh Produce, at Good Life (10/22). We’re opening for one of my all time favorite hip-hop groups, Camp Lo! Get more details about the party and RSVP on Facebook.
You thought that was it? On 10/28, we’re doing a special Halloween Edition of SOLID! at ZuZu. Evaredy and I will be holding it down all night. Expect the same blend of disco, hip-hop, rock and soul with a lean towards the spookier stuff.
Come party with me this October! Check out all the details on the EVENTS page.
Due to some minor cabin fever during Hurricane Irene, I decided to do a remix of the Diana Ross disco classic “Upside Down.” Went with a deep disco vibe for this…
Moe Pope has been one of my favorite MCs since I heard his verse on The Mission’s “It’s The…” and “Transit” my freshman year of college via a friend from Berkeley, CA. I couldn’t figure out why this MC from Cali was coming with lines like “Somalians conversate about the Red Sox / Giving Pedro props while I’m approaching my stop.”
I soon learned that Moe Pope was a Boston native and at the time was rocking shows in a group called Project Move with MCs Anonymous and Raheem Jamal. I finally met Moe after doing some production work for Anonymous. Anon invited me to a show they were doing at the old Milky Way in JP. I told him I was underage, but he said to come anyway. Moe and Anon met me at the door and lied to the bouncer for me, saying I was a performer, and got me in. Moe told me I could play the cowbell in the background on stage if I had to.
Since then Moe released his album “Life After God” with the homie Rain and has been rocking shows with bearded hype man Christopher Talken. Black EL and I have been fortunate enough to do a bunch of shows with these guys and become friends. We’ve also been lucky enough to hear some of their new material, which is fucking great.
Lucky for you, Moe and Rain leaked one of their new songs today. Even better, it features the homie Anonymous! Check out “Ay” on the Soundcloud player above…
Oh yeah, Black EL and I are opening for Moe Pope and Boston legend Mr. Lif this Friday at Church (69 Kilmarnock St. Boston, MA). RSVP on Facebook.
We’re bringing the Black EL x Durkin show to Church on Friday, June 24th. Mad excited for this because we’re opening for one of my all time favorite live performers Mr. Lif. The homies Moe Pope and the Life After God crew will also be performing. Only $10! Don’t miss this… Black EL and I are performing all new material from our upcoming project The Collage.
